CARE

Caring for Your Portfolio Jewellery Pieces

There are many different factors which influence the condition and longevity of your jewellery. Therefore you should make sure that your jewellery is properly cleaned, polished and stored in order to protect it and ensure it remains in the best condition possible as it wears. Please read through the care instructions below to ensure your jewellery is kept looking their best so you can enjoy it!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Please follow these steps to ensure your beautiful jewellery lasts.

Storage:

To protect your jewellery, pieces should be individually placed in pouches to stop them being scratched or tangled. Ideally, you should store your Portfolio Jewellery in a dry, dark & cool place and try to keep pieces separate, so that they don't rub together or tangle up.

Wearing Your Jewellery:

Always be gentle and protect your jewellery from knocks, scratches, chemicals and extreme temperatures to minimise the impacts of damage or wear. We recommend removing your jewellery when sleeping, showering, bathing, swimming and particularly when on the beach, as both the sea and in chlorinated water but water exposure overall is not advisable for protecting costume jewellery. Avoid spraying perfume or applying creams where they might come into direct contact with your jewellery - both the metal and pearls can be impacted by this!

Plated Jewellery:

All jewellery is vulnerable to hard knocks. Hoops can scratch or bend, posts can bend and links rub against each other to eventually and wear down or out.
It is important to take care to extend the life of your gold plated jewellery. Do not use polishing creams or polishing cloths on plated jewellery, as it can remove the plating. Perfumes, creams, lotions, and makeup all contain substances than can affect plated jewellery. Some soaps and detergents are stronger and harsher than others.

We recommend using lukewarm water and detergent-free soap to clean your jewellery or a soft, dry or damp cloth. Just remember to dry your jewellery immediately afterwards.
